Born in Brooks, Gary formed his first band at the ripe old age of 18, playing local pubs, cabarets, weddings and high school dances. After moving to Calgary to attend university, he played the lounge circuit as a single act, playing folk, pop, and country classics.
Gary was a founding member of Mr. Mole. (AKA The Moles) They recorded two successful albums of mostly original material that garnered attention in Canada as well as Australia. The President of the Australian Folk Alliance brought them to Australia for a successful six week tour of high profile festival and club engagements.
Wishing to indulge another of his passions, Gary took a hiatus from the music business and worked as a music teacher for the Calgary Board of Education, helping to present elaborate musicals. During that time he continued to develop his instrumental skills on guitar, bass, harmonica and fiddle.
Currently, he is excited to be adding fiddle and blues harp to The Spitzee Post Band sound!
